herding cats (aka other parents) (363/365b)

nothing this morning but hanging out with felix. i took him to chorus in the afternoon, and took the other kids quickly to both libraries. We had to get to the second library urgently, because yesterday, theodore had returned his books, and had been to embarrassed or shy to ask the librarian to get the book back from behind the counter since he had left a piece of paper between the pages of the book. we were lucky, the book hadn't been taken out again, and the paper was still there.

twice today i saw people that i recognized, said hi, and they didn't recognize me back. one i met about a year ago, so i guess i'm not surprised. and one i met 2 days ago, and i thought we had a nice exchange, but i guess i was not memorable enough.

I have so many pictures of people reading to the kids
they seem similar to each other, but if you look closely,
this one is somehow different....
the story being read is from the italo calvino's italian folktales
and is called "the king's son in the hen-house"
that one is pretty normal.
another one, "the three blind queens" begins:
"There were three sons of a king, but the king was dead, like the queen."
so much cooking today. all the food for dinner, all the food for rehearsal (first communion music with a bunch of parents from henry's class - really hard to organize them to play together or write anything in the music), and all the food for tomorrow. nobody ate anything at the rehearsal, so afterwards brian and i had a 10pm pita-bread and hummus party.
