Out with the old, in with the new.
Following a few years now of tradition, we headed to the Foersters for New Years Eve, still my all-time favorite holiday. Normally I would have put way more effort into things I care about, but this time Henry was adamantly against me making Mushroom Goulash, Centa wasn't joining us, and I wasn't even much in the mood for food, so we brought almost nothing with us.
Andi found us a terrific walk to go from an easily accessible bus-stop on a ridge walk to their home. It was a tremendously beautiful sunny day, and we trekked across meadows, through woods and made snow angels and took little private gravel roads for 2 hours till we got to their home. We created a buffet fit for kings, and alternated playing games with eating, and sledding with eating, and drinking with eating. Our bonfire was beautiful, especially with some old wood that had holes drilled into it. We joked that we would have to pre-drill all our firewood from now on.
There were sparklers and champagne, and dancing in the snow to the Vienna Phil playing the Blue Danube on the radio. We sang "Auld Lang Syne".
We stayed up till 3am helping Ronja sew a book together because she wanted writing every day starting tomorrow and therefore needs a book with 365 pages. We made the whole thing out of printer-paper, and everyone was sleepy and pricked their fingers with the needles.
